We might be biased, but there is no better job than being a Caribbean Cowgirl (or boy). We have a passion for Vieques and a great love for our small herd of beautiful island-born, Paso Fino-related horses. It’s an absolute delight for us to share both with you.
Our secret to the wonder of horseback riding in Puerto Rico.
Over the years, Esperanza Riding Company has collected a small herd of beautiful, island-born, Paso Fino-related horses. Each horse exhibits his/her individual character, look and gait; just like people! As you will see below and in person, this is a very well-cared for, happy, crew of steeds. Affectionately known as “The Kids” they certainly do act accordingly! The Paso Fino Association sums up why are kids are so cool: “The Paso Fino Horse reflects the Spanish heritage through its proud carriage, grace, and elegance. With its lively but controlled spirit, natural gait and presence, and responsive attitude, the Paso Fino is indeed a rare and desirable equine partner.” So very true!

Elizabeth hails from The Eastern Shore of Virginia, but has called the island of Vieques home since 2006. While she grew up training and showing Arabian horses, she has found her calling astride the local Paso Fino-bred horses. She’s happy to combine her love of horses, people, and adventure to bring you a unique, personalized, experience that you won’t forget.
She is supported by an amazing team of Caribbean Cowgirls (and boys) who ensure each and every riding experience is unforgettable.

Over the years, Elizabeth and her team have been featured in a variety of publications and broadcasts covering Esperanza Riding Company’s operations in Vieques as well as on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where she still operates during the summer months, and on Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where she operated from 2012-2018.
